How to use the date difference calculator
- Pick a start date using the first field.
- Pick an end date using the second field.
- Press "Calculate difference" to see the result.
- Read the total days, weeks, months and years between the two dates.
How the calculation works
The tool subtracts the start date from the end date and reports the gap in several units at once. Total days is the exact day count, and total weeks is that figure divided by seven. Months and years are calculated on the calendar, so a span from January 15 to March 15 counts as exactly two months even though February is shorter than the others.
If your end date comes before your start date, the tool does not break. It simply flips the order and shows the absolute difference, with a note telling you the range was reversed. That makes it easy to answer questions in either direction — how long ago something happened, or how far away it is.

| Contracts and rentals | Exact number of days a lease or agreement covers. |
Why use a date difference tool
Counting days on a calendar by hand is slow and error-prone, especially across month and year boundaries. Leap years, differing month lengths and time zones all complicate a manual count. This calculator handles those details for you and gives an answer instantly, with no signup and no upload — the dates never leave your device.
Leap years and month lengths
Because the calculator relies on your browser's built-in calendar, it already knows which years are leap years and which months have 28, 30 or 31 days. A span that crosses February 29, or one that runs from January 31 to February 28, is handled automatically. You do not need to adjust for anything — just enter the two dates and the tool does the rest.
